General Professional Background

Terrence J. Brasch is a Senior Associate Attorney in the General Liability and Civil Litigation, Toxic Torts, Construction, and Appellate practice groups at Bishop | Barry.  For over a decade Mr. Brasch has represented businesses, public agencies, and individuals in a wide range of litigation matters.

Since joining Bishop | Barry in the Spring of 2016, his practice has focused on representing parties to commercial disputes, and defending products and premises liability, and personal injury lawsuits.  Mr. Brasch also represents developers, general contractors, tradespeople, and materials suppliers in the defense of both commercial and residential construction defect claims.

Experience and Academic Background

Prior to joining Bishop | Barry, Mr. Brasch represented local and state public agencies in a variety of matters, including employment, premises liability, and 42 U.S.C. Section 1983 claims.  He has also defended Fortune 500 corporations and small businesses against securities fraud, product liability claims, and professional malpractice claims, including those against accountants and medical providers.  Mr. Brasch has successfully argued cases before the California Court of Appeal and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and has handled petitions for review by the California Supreme Court.

Before returning to his home state of California, Mr. Brasch practiced law in Boston, Massachusetts, representing clients in real property transactions and disputes, government regulation of businesses, personal injury, and probate and family law matters.

Terrence Brasch graduated cum laude from Boston College Law School, during which he volunteered at Shelter Legal Services.  Prior to law school, he earned a Master of Arts in Philosophy from Fordham University, where he was the Graduate Student Association Academic Committee Chairperson, and a tutor for the Higher Education Opportunity Program.  Mr. Brasch received his B.A. in Philosophy from Santa Clara University, where he was President of the Philosophy Club, as well as a volunteer for the Eastside Project Homeless Shelter and a tutor for the Teaching and Learning Center.

Professional Affiliations

Mr. Brasch is a member of the California State Bar, as well as, the San Francisco and Alameda County Bar Associations.  Mr. Brasch is also a member of the Defense Research Institute.

Admitted to Practice

Mr. Brasch is admitted to practice before all courts in the State of California, as well as, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of California, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.  Mr. Brasch is also admitted to the practice before all courts in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
